Welcome to the Dustdevil Family!
Over the next four years, you and your student will experience a journey unlike any other. As your Dustdevil begins their studies at TAMIU, we understand it may be a significant change for you and your family. We are committed to helping your student succeed and want to collaborate with you to ensure a smooth transition and a successful college experience for your student.
Parent & Family Orientation is available to answer any questions or doubts you may have about your student’s transition to university life.

- Is there a fee for Parent & Family Orientation?
We provide free admission for a maximum of 2 family members. You may pay for additional members using our website TAMIU Mall- Parent & Family Orientation

- What should i bring?
The room we are in can sometimes be chilly for Laredo standards, so feel free to bring a light sweater should you need it.
A light morning snack and lunch will be provided as part of our program. Additional snacks or food can be purchased at your convenience in the Student Center Food Court.

After dropping off your student at the Residential Learning Community (RLC) you will follow the signs to Parent and Family Orientation to report and arrive at the Student Center.
The program is scheduled to begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. and you should expect to finish by about 3:30 p.m.

- Do parents have to attend?
While Freshman Orientation: Dusty Camp is a mandatory, overnight program for students, our Parent and Family Orientation program is optional. If you need to change your session, please contact us and we will be happy to assist.
